not the exact info ur looking for but i upgraded from a piss poor alpine 9856 to a pioneer deh-p7800mp. everything the alpine lacked the pioneer was stacked with.

however, when a song starts or during a breakdown if i gets quiet, there is a rather loud hiss that was not present at all with the alpine.

i could care less though, i'm a metalhead and there arent too many dull moments in the new album by All THAT REMAINS!

I have my RCAs, at miminum, 4 ft from the power wires and unfortunately, i still get it from BOTH channels, however, it is gone as soon as the song picks up, and the HU sounds awesome

I'd also like to know what to try to solve this. I've grounded my rca's and ran my cables far apart. Anybody else do anything special to fix this? I tried an old pioneer deck and it still whined, so it's not the 960, or so I think.

Where do you have this grounded.?? If you're using the factory ground that is behind the dash in the harness that is NOT good enough. I ground my deck in the trunk at the same grounding point as my amplifiers are grounded.

some pioneers have a fuse that conects the rca fround to the chassis ground, if it's blown that could be the problem if you haven't ground the rca's

I have not had any problems with the 3 pioneer cd players that I have owned. The only time I ever got engine whine was when I used my remote wire to power some neons(not reccomended). My new p880 has no noise except the *** that is produced through the Rainbows.

i hooked up a 880 and instantly had nosie problems, directly swapped it with a 1992 Supertuner 3 tape deck and had ZERO noise....hahah Pioneer FTMFL
x2 I grounded mine every which way...and it still screeched. After it was repaired and returned....same deal. Sonic Electronix sucks too in these situations.....hopefully my credit card company will back me on this one. Shitty deal, and in this particular case shitty deck. System is all better now with the Alpine.
