Pioneer vsx-1021 stuck in "Phones In" mode

Came home one day and receiver was stuck in phones in mode. Reset it, disconnected the head phone jack wire connector from inside, and tried various other things to no avail. Any of you home theater guys know anything about this?

Sounds like the comparator or similar IC that determines if there is a load on the phones connector has failed. Try to get a service manual so you can trouble shoot more effectively.

Bro I definitely appreciate your help! But Is it something an electrical novice can handle or is it something I need to have a pro look at?

you'll need to start by getting a service manual for the receiver ($10) and inspect the schematic to determine if it is indeed a comparator or another method of determining if there is a load on the headphone jack.

try a factory reset... should be in the manual
