Pioneer USB input

OK so I have a DEH-6000UB; and a few months ago some jagoff kid ran off with my ipod thanks to me leaving my car doors unlocked at night.

I was getting ready to buy another one, but I'm wondering, can the deck run mp3's from an external hard drive? cause they are a hell of alot cheaper than an ipod. I know I can use a usb memory stick on it to play mp3's and run through the folders just fine.

If anyone does this themselves, it'd be great help for me if you listed what brand drive you use or ones you know work. thanks in advance.

only in the summer you can.

the usb only puts out 500ma.

external harddrive need somewhere around 1a-1.8a.

i used one with kenwood, it would take about 5 minutes to start up in the winter because it doesn get enough juice to spin it up when cold.

and in any case you cant use more than 30-40 gigs of that hard drive because theres a limit on how many files and folders you can have.

buy a 32gb thumb drive and faq the ipod.

it also can play WAV files which are lossless and even with the 32gb thumb drive you can put about 45full albums in wav format.

if you only using wav format you can go up to 64gb thumb drive

Thanks for the input on the usb amperage.

Bestbuy wants 150 bucks for a 32gig flash drive though, if I can find one cheaper i'll go that route for sure.
