Pioneer rear aux mp3 hook up?

I have a pioneer deh 7200 that has the capability to hook up and control an ipod. However, I don't own an IPOD, but another brand of mp3 player. I plugged a general audio cord from my head phone jack on my mp3 player to the aux 2 audio hook up in the back of the stereo, turned the aux 2 and even aux 1 seetings on, and still can't get any sound from my mp3 player feed. Did i do this right? The manual says that aux 2 hook up is for external devices, but maybe that doesn't include an mp3 player. Any help would ve valued. I'm pull'n my hair out on this one cause i hate fm modulators that i have to use.

mine works fine, but its a different model. with the deck off, hold the button down that gets you into settings, should be the same button to take demo mode off. you should be able to turn the aux on and off from there.

my settings are under the function button...and yes i have to turn the hu off and hold the button

ok there is 1 aux port in the back of ur pioneer deck.. one is a headphone jack labeled W/R ( wired remote). the other is a blue squre plug.. that is the plug you use.. find a part made by Peripheral called PXRPIO. it's a aux plug to rca's jacks. then get rca to headphone cable.. plug it all together. turn ur aux 2 on and bam done.

so its actually the cd changer control?

my input are rca's for the aux, usb for ipod, and seperate cd changer controls.
