ok guys my GF has a 1997 Camaro (base model)

her HU is a Pioneer DEH-P5500MP, shes having an issue with the HU randomly turning off for different durations of time, sometimes it turns back on right away sometimes it wont turn back on until the car is turned off and back on

my first guess is a bad ground, whats the likely hood of this being correct?

what other issues could cause this to happen, im assuming there is a faulty wire or something

are these HU's known for problems, i believe its 2-3 years old

edit: ALSO wheres the best area behind the console to ground out the HU?
