I have used the 3002's, and yes they are good for spl. they are quite power hungry so make sure you have the power to push them. definately not for sq but they don't sound like crap while getting loud. If you can get them for a deal, I say go for it because I've seen them for about 120 a sub (used of course) and to me makes them the best deal on an spl sub.
I like their 3004 subs. I just posted to some other guy running all Pioneer and suggested those. Sound real nice and get loud. Make sure you give them a good amount of watts to get them going.
