which one should i go with, the alpine has ipod capability but i dont know if the pioneer does. i want to be able to mess with setting and EQ since i got some pioneer rev 6x9s on the way.

if you can think of a better HU for $200-300 let me know. must be able to play with ipods via a aux port of some sort.

880PRS no comparison they are not even on the same level. Do a search for the 880. It pretty much has everything you would need to run active, tune ect. It is the best bang for the buck out. I will post some of the specs.

From what it says on Crutchfield the 880 still does more. I could be wrong but I don't think the 9887 lets you do fully active.

Didn't even really look at that, probably because I don't use an active setup, but good info. It does have a 5-band parametric EQ, a Burr-Brown D/A converter, 6-channel Time Alignment, 4 Volt preamp and some interesting features. Though it is a little out of 200-300 range.

Don't know if I'm allowed to do this (if not mods delete it) but here is a link someone who has the 9887 in reply #30.

The 9887 will do active. It has a little bit less EQ power compared to the 880. The 9887 is hopefully a return to the days of the 9835/9855 Alpines. No one knows for sure as they are not on the market yet. It does have Imprint but there are already some bad limitation noted when using the imprint which is in the price of HU. Only time will tell if the 9887 is all that. The 880PRS has proven itself already. For the price an 880 can be had for vs. 9887. I would still have to pick the 880 on the bang for the buck alone. I am sure it will be awhile before we see the 9887 going for 250 even used.
