Pioneer's higher end stuff(Premier for car audio and Elite for home audio) are actually very good, I remember reading a Car Audio Magazine review of their older component sets, the ones with yellow kevlar cones, and they said it's one of the best they have ever heard. It is a common misconception because Pioneer also makes stuff that you can buy at Walmart or some dude in a white van.

But if I'm going to spend over $500 on a comp set then I'd get some Dynaudio speakers.
