on the poineer ipod adapter, is there any way to controll the ipod from the ipod instead of the headunit. i personally think it would be easier to search through songs that way.

no, the ipod adapter disables the ipod controls when it's plugged in. You can unplug the dock connector, search and find what you are wanting then plug it back in and it will be playing- this is sort of like what you want to do.

Could always use a CDRB10/20 as an aux, but then you lose the charger.
