Pioneer indash dvd install problems..

I have a pioneer indash dvd player, a premier 860 and a pioneer dash mounted 6.5 wide screen.... everthing works and all but the only sound from the dvd movies is coming from the screen (it has a little speaker) I hooked up the rcas from the dvd player to the screen brain and then the plug off the dvd player that says (to main unit) went to the 860 (it looked like a XM plug ... blue) its not showing it as a extra function or anything on the headdeck... so basically im getting no sound through the headeck... actually the decks not showing that theres a dvd plugged in.... did i miss something?
