Okay, I recently purchased a Pioneer headunit compatible with the iB100II.
Here's my set up:
Compatible Pioneer models: DEH-P6800MP, DEH-P680MP, DEH-P7800MP, DEH-P780MP, DEH-P880PRS, DEH-P9800BT, and DEH-P980BT.
The Premier 2006 880PRS is a beautiful new headunit. It is a very good buy! The iB100II (not the iB100I) is also new. It basically lets you control your iPod through your Pioneer headunit (only 2006 models are FULLY compatible with the iB100II). It is way better than the iB100I. It displays three items for the iPod (not as "great" as the 4 for the new Alpines). If you must compare just iPod capabilities/usage through headunits... Alpine wins slightly. But the new Alpines **** compared to their pre-2006. Less preouts, control, etc.
Well, the iB100II is made so you can control your iPod through the headunit. But some people like to control it through the iPod itself. I found out it is possible. It might be a "glitch" or a "hack". I also found out you can play videos (that only display on the iPod) but the audio plays through the car and it keeps charging.
Here's how the hack works:
To make sure it absolutely works, the iPod must be off when you first plug it in, after that it will turn "on" and display "Ok to disconnect"
Like i said, this is a hack. I don't think it will not mess up your system/iPod in anyway (but you can try this on your own terms and I am not responsible for any damage; this is simply my experience with my own system and iPod that I am sharing with you). And it's all just trial and error.
I noticed if you switched songs on the iPod itself, it doesn't display any artists/song (this is happening because you're controling it by the iPod and the headunit isn't "told" to read/update the information. It is no big deal.
Enjoy, I hope this helps!

Here's how the hack works:
- Turn off iPod (do not put on "hold")
- Plug it into the iB100II (the radio can be on/off; does not matter)
- Turn to iPod mode on the headunit
- Go to your iPod and press "Menu" twice (or more if needed)
- Pick a song/video/etc!
- Enjoy!
