Pioneer HUs Way Too Sensitive to CD Imperfections!

Every Pioneer deck I ever had has been touchy about any imperfections on cds. I never realized how sensitive they were though until I got this Walmart VR3 deck for my S10 install, and it plays all these cds all the way thru without ever skipping, and with my Pioneers it is hard to even find a cd it can play all the way through without a complete lockup. The MP3 playback is actually better on the VR3 deck too than an 880PRS. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this before?

Never. My Pioneer HU actually reads this one CD that has a scrape off of part of it, and it scratches all over the place and it plays it great (except for the scraped off part, of course)

I have a DEH-P6900UB, fyi.

Maybe you're just buying cheap HU's?

My old Pioneer flip out didn't have any problem with scratched up cd's. It could actually play the cd's straight through that my OEM radio, a JVC, and a Sony flip out could not. Only thing that was below average on it was the AM reception, but that was so minor to me.

The few pio decks I've used all had that problem. I do notice that those sun visor cd case thingy's do tend to scratch the hell outta your cd's though

Never had a pproblem, I always went alpine b4 becuz of the playback capabilities!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

alittle bit different topic, but i have problems with the cd ejecting. they come out just alittle bit and you have to flick it up and down for it to come all of the way out. any suggestions on how to fix that?

yeah, they ****. It only takes like a week of sliding your cd's in and out of those visor cases to cause severe damage to the cd's

Yeah all my Pioneers over the years have had trouble ejecting cds after a while of having them too.

Of course, most of you who claim you never have trouble are only running Pioneers so you have nothing to compare them to, nor would I have if I didnt have the VR3, and a Bosch worksite radio that play all the mildly scratched cds fine, that my two top of the line Pioneer HUs can't handle without skipping.

I dont have a visor cd case either.

so sick of scratched cds is why I want to get an 80gig ipod and put all of my music on it. no more inserting and ejecting cds, and can have thousands of hours of listening on one unit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I never had that problem and I've had more Pioneer than anything. I think they are one of the top decks for reading abused cd's. Why don't you use an ipod. That way you'll never have to worry about a scratched cd?

never had a problem with the 4 i have had... had problem with bass making some models skipp but... i have had at least 7 kenwoods and 2 eclipse... and none of those had problems either.. i cant imagine putting a VR3 deck over any main stream .... :p
