Pioneer harnesses all the same?

I have a prs880. I had a little alt whine through my front speakers and added an amp and sub today, and now the engine noise is 10X worse. I sanded off the ground and both amp for the front speakers and sub are at the same spot. Since there was alt noise in my old car to (which was professionally installed) i am thinking the problem is the head unit.

So my question is, can i just find a friend with a pioneer head unit and plug my harness into the back of their deck to see if that fixes the problem or would i have to rewire everything?

I think it is a pico issue as the noise is much better if i take out the sub amp rca's. (even the noise through the front speakers is better)

I just thought it would be easier to plug in another pioneer unit than grounding each of the rca's

I would just wrap the rca's on the HU and ground them and then see if it fixes any of ur issues I bet it does... I hate pio and their stupid azz pico fuse issues... Sure buying a new HU with no pico issue will fix ur issue but thats what 200-300 when u can just ground the rca's for under $10

thing is, there are so many wires jammed in such a small place behind my deck, it will be a ***** to find a ground. I will do it if that is the problem, jsut figured it would be easier to check the other way. My dad also has an extra pioneer deck that he is not using, but he lives 2 hours away. If i can plug his deck in and the sound is fixed, i can keep that deck. But i dont want to drive for 4 hours to find out i cant plug it in anyway.

Alt whine is usually a ground loop issue or drawing power from a dirty source (fuse block).

Are you using a new 12V line straight off your battery or are you running off your car's fuse block? If you're using a the fuse block, try a new 12V run and see if your problem goes away.

Try to avoid grounding amps, HU and other items to the same ground. This creates the ground loop issue. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif A common ground through the body/chassis is OK but amp to amp, etc. is trouble waiting to happen.

The two amps are grounded to the same spot on the body, the HU is grounded through the wiring harness. I dont have a soldering iron at the moment which is why I wanted to try switching decks.

Still need to know if i can just plug the clip from the back of my HU into another pioneer deck

I don't think you can answer that until you look at the connectors.
