Pioneer dvh-p7000 - no power

I'm trying to install a pioneer dvh-p7000 dvd/cd/fm radio in my 98 ford expedition. I bought, wired up and connect the wire harness to both the radio and the car, but it will not power up. all wires are connected except for the green/white "parking brake" wire. does this wire need to be connected in order to power up?? What is it used for??? Any help on this is greatly appreciated!!!!

I know this sounds dumb, and you probably already know, but most Pioneer head units I've used don't turn on by themselves. You've got to hit the source button after it gets power.

I've installed maybe 30 radios in my life and never had this problem. I'm thinking that the parking break switch wire is there to disable the front monitor power while the car is in motion. But not disable the entire radio????
