pioneer deh8600 that needs service

I have this unit, but it is not working. It was a refurb, and when I hooked it up it just smoked. I finally figured out what the problem was, someone had mixed up the positive and negative inputs on the freakin' harness!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif Anyways, I can either take it in for service, which would be about $100, or sell it to someone who wants to take it in and then get a different unit. How much do you think I can get for this unit in its condition? Should I fix it or cut my losses and get something else?

i have the same unit and like it much. it might be worth fixing. lots of features and 13 band eq, etc...

I would probably get something from '06 to replace it assuming you had the money.

My opinion on the 8600/860 changed when mine failed after 6 months.

Depending on the manufacture date, you MIGHT be able to get a one time courtesy fix. Call Pioneer, ask for a manager, tell him youve heard of the courtesy fix policy.

How much do you think you could get for it? I think the new ones are going in the mid 300 range (unauthorized)

Mine was too......had the infamous ground trace problem. They didnt ask for a receipt or anything like that, just the manufacture date. If I were you, I would hurry up and call them, so you can make arrangements while it is still a current model.
