Pioneer DEH-P9400MP face only opens partially

Hi there.

I picked up a used Pioneer DEH-P9400MP CD receiver recently. I noticed that the motorized face only opens to about 30-45 degrees from vertical instead of going "flat" horizontal.

I've heard that this is a fairly common problem on Pioneer units such as this. What are the "usual suspects" as far as where to look for the problem?
