Pioneer DEH-P6500 remote won't work

After I moved my Pioneer DEH-6500 from my Volvo 240 to my Volvo 850, the remote wouldn't work. I tried replacing the batteries, which didn't work, then bought a new remote off of eBay, which still doesn't work. Any advice?

P.S. - For any smart a$$es whose advice is to just use the controls on the head unit, the button that works to skip CD tracks and arrow left right up and down won't work half the time, which is why I use the remote.

maybe the "eye" is bad on the unit. how old is it?

It's at least 6-7 years old. Do you know where the "eye" is? I couldn't see anything that looked like one on the faceplate.

if i had a decent pic i could point it out. you will need a new face if that is the problem
