Pioneer DEH-P4100UB vs Kenwood Excelon KDC-X693

I'm stuck between these two head units. I'm not trying to get anything too fancy, just something with good preamp volts, reliability, and can run an ipod. The pioneer is cheaper but not by too much. I hear good things about about both, but is the Kenwood worth the little bit extra cash? Please help me make a decision!

Pioneer's lower end models have more features than alpine for the same price. Stick to Pioneer.

Probably not gona make it to the show. I still have to put everything together. I'm just getting things one at a time. I'm thinking about running either four SA-12's or a pair of Nightshades (12" or 15" not sure though) on a SAZ-3500D or a pair of SAZ-2000D's. If I get the head unit ordered and installed by the show, I could stick in my pair of SA-12's and SAE-1200D but it probably wont score as high as I would like..probably around a 145 or so.

Very true, it should be a lot of fun. I think most of the folks will be in either the 120-129.9 or 130-139.9 class. There is only going to be a few shows left this year so try your best to make it.

Is it strictly bass race only? Cuz it would be helpful to find my resonant frequency if there was DB Drag as well.

Sounds good. If I can get some wire together and get my deck installed I will definitely make it. I'm at school so I don't have much time to do it unless I come home a couple weekends.

But anyways, anyone else have any opinions on the head units?!

I don't have any experience with the 4100, but I do like the 693. My girlfriend has the 693 in her car and I'd say it's definitely worth the money and then some.
