My car, an SW20 MR2 came fitted with the following setup:

Head Unit: Sony (being replaced)

Front Speakers: 5.25” Infinity Reference 500cs & Tweeters
Rear Speakers: 4” Infinity Kappa 42i

Amp: Rockford Fosgate Punch 40ix
Subwoofers: 4 x 6.5” Rockford Fosgate Punch AUDIOphile RFA64

I’m swapping to a Pioneer DEH-80PRS head unit and considering removing the rear speakers and running the DEH-80PRS in Network mode but want to check first if this setup will work?

High: Direct to Tweeters
Mid: Fit a new 2 channel amp to power the front speakers
Low: To amp and 4 x Subs.

Thanks.

I’d rather leave the RF amp and subs in place as they are already wired in.

Would I be better to get a new 4 channel amp to power the door speakers and the tweeters, with them wired separately to the high and mid outputs on the head unit?

Thanks

Would a Pioneer GM-D1004 400W 4 Channel Amp power the Infinity front speakers and tweeters okay? It’s in a 2 seater MR2 so it’s compact size would help with the install.

Pick up some 9 wire to run in series with the speaker wire from behind the headunit to route it to wherever you mount the amp
