Pioneer Avic-N2 HU Gray Screen of Death

I got this HU from a Good Will warehouse and everything seems to be working(lower or raise the volume, change from radio to CD, and change the stations) as it should when the flip-out screen is inside the stereo, but when the screen pops out it only display a gray screen with no image.

The HU is about 10 years old so there is not much information out there and I have seen 0 results on google with the same problem after 2 hours of searching.

Does anyone have any idea about what could be wrong with the HU and how i could go about repairing it?

Everything points out to it being a bad flex cable, unfortunately I'm not in a position to put any money into repairing it atm so it will be up for sale in the classified section in case anyone is interested.
