Pioneer 9800bt display went out

A friend of mine gave a me a pioneer 9800bt all the functions are good, volume, CD plays radio plays even all the buttons lite up only thing is that the display wont work. My friend bought another 9800 and we tested the old faceplate on the new 9800 and it works. My question is : what parts or part of the radio you guys think needs to get fixed if possible.

the display is LCD that is backlit. it is possible the lamp went out and the repair is fairly easy. if this is the case, you may see a faint display (with enough light).

the replacement display alone is expensive @ $258. you could get a used faceplate for less than that.

Its not the faceplate its the deck because i tried the faceplate on another deck and it works my problem is finding out whats wrong with the deck. Im guessing it has something to do with the wire that connects the deck to the faceplate.

The ribonning inside may need a swap

Ribbon cable is much cheaper and easier to replace.
