Pioneer 880 install

Hey guys, hope someone can help with my first HU install. I have soldered all conections from my harness to the 880 except for the grounds. On the harness there are 2 grounds, one that says amplifer ground and the other just says ground. I was planning on just grounding the 880 (and pioneer ipod adapter cd-100) to the car, but if I do this, what do I do with the harness grounds? Should I just solder it to the HU ground then ground it to the car? And does the ipod adapter(cd-100) and HU need to share a common ground? Lastly, can I just hook up the remote turn on to the HU and skip the harness amp turn on wire? Sorry for all the noob Q's, and thank you in advance for ANY help given.

So there's an OEM amp in play here?

First thing, I'd designate a new ground point for the HU - disregard the harness stuff - and use it for all the sound equipment. Then just tape off the harness grounds.

Don't understand your remote question, what's it turninig on?

Thanks for the responses. I have a 2002 altima 2.5. The reomte turn on is for my Soundstream amp that's running my components and 6x9's. Can I just connect it straight to the HU or does it need to connect it to the harness somehhow? So it's okay to tape off both the harness grounds and ground the HU to the car? And should I graound the Ipod adapter to the same location as the HU or is it okay to have a different ground? Thank you for all the help.

You can probably ignore the "amplifier ground"; in a Nissan it's only used in vehicles equipped with a Bose system. There's a good chance there's no ground wire in the factory harness, also, so it's not a bad idea to run a ground wire to the vehicle metal. You can ground the iPod adapter to the same location.

I don't recall whether your head unit has a separate power antenna output as well as the remote output. You can ignore the amp turn-on wire in the harness (unless your vehicle has a Bose system and you're integrating the factory amp) but you need to connect the power antenna wire in the harness because your vehicle has an antenna amplifier. If there's no separate power antenna wire on the Pioneer head unit, then the Pioneer remote turn-on should be connected to the harness power antenna wire as well as your amp's turn-on wire.

Thanks KaeZoo (and Boulderguy) , I pulled off the middle part of my dash and have located a good grounding point for the HU and iPod adapter. Also thanks for the info on the antenna, I was going to just tape it off and leave it. Once again, thanks for the help.

I finished the install yesterday and it sounds great, I have no alternator whine with the 880. However, when I tried to slip the 880 into the existing location,(previously a pioneer DEH-p840) it didn't fit. So I took off the metal bracket and with a little coaxing, it slid into the plastic bezel. My HU (880) didn't come with an extra metal bracket (unsure of proper name, sorry) and the plastic bezel it came with is the exact same as the one I have now. So, can I leave it how it is or is there a problem that I will run into later with how it is now, just sitting inside the plastic bezel. I know that thieves can pull out the HU without the extraction tool, but I take The HU off when I park anyways. Just wondering is this is a big NO NO, and if it is, how do I fix it. Thanks again for the help.
