I LOVE MY P840MP!!!

I've had mine for about 6 months now and I've had ZERO problems with it.

I also have a couple buddies who bought the same one and their's are still flawless too!!! We were afraid that eventually the motorized face on at least one of ours would malfunction somehow (as is quickly the case with many motorized faces) but they are all working just fine. Aside from the AWESOME looks, it dishes out some pretty decent sound too. An excellent investment... I say GRAB ONE FAST!!!

The IP-Bus control those Premier headunits come with allows you to use/control other pioneer car audio/video accessories directly through the headunit itself. You just have to make sure that whatever accessory you buy also says something like, "IP-Bus control capability" or some $hit like that.

For example... I've taken advantage of this neat little feature. I can control my Pioneer Premier CD/DVD changer in my trunk directly from my P840MP headunit. If I wanted to watch a movie I can just switch to VIDEO and send the command to the DVD player from my headunit. I think other audio brands have similare capabilities on their headunits too (I'm not sure, maybe Pioneer is the only one). Either way, it's pretty NIFTY!!!

Hey Natheo does that pioneer head unit have a dvd player in it? I thought i remember you saying something but i forgot

no, but i think you can hook up one and control it with it.

I noticed that on wwwikesound.com and http://www.onlinecarstereo.com it says the premier DEH-P840MP only has a 1 year warranty. My Premier catalog and http://www.pioneerelectronics.com says it has a 2 year warranty.

I've heard that companies wont honor a warranty if purchased through online "discount houses." Anyone else hear this?

As far as a warranty goes, I think it depends entirely on the reputation of the given "discount house" or distributor. I know that Etronics.com sells Pioneer products with the complete 2 year parts and labor warranty. The bigger and well known distributors seem to include COMPLETE warranties. Then there are some semi-reputable distributors whom companies like Pioneer will include half the normal warranty on items sold through them.... AND THEN, I'm sure there are distributors out there that who big companies wouldn't DARE honor warranties through!!!

I think this is mainly to scare off consumers. Stick to the large names that will back their warranty claim.... thezeb.com is my favorite for things.
