Both are at crutchfield now with a $20 difference. Some of the reviews on the 7800 complained that the faceplate wasn't very durable. Any opinions on this? And one person said that he had a skipping problem with the kenwood x990. The kenwood seems to have more sound options and has a pretty good price at $349.99. Which one do you think is the better buy?

I was leaning toward the kenwood just because I've read that excelons have great sound quality and it seems to be a good deal with crutch field offering 150 off msrp.

i've had experience with the 7800. Really nice head unit with a ton of customizing for your liking....you can do alot of tweaking with the extras to get your taste of music..... it really is a good head unit. Me personally, i would get the 7800 before x990 anyday..... That kenwood looks to bulky and beefy.....

cruthfield = overpriced.....

Actually, the price on crutchfield is $329.99 minus $20 when i'll use a coupon code and for my vehicle i need a adapter that costs $80 but when you buy it with a head unit you get it for $40. Plus crutch field has awesome customer service. So it would be a better deal for me to buy from crutch.

go for the Pioneer dude. such an awesome h/u. you can tweek soo much on the pioneer and plus the screen has 64,000 colors compared to the kenwood's 4,500. makes a huge difference if you are concerned about looks.

I just ordered the Pioneer. I decided that the biggest difference between the two for me was the looks and i think the pioneer will fit in with my interior better than the kenwood. Can't wait to install it.

Humm, when I was looking at a head unit, looks were not as high on the priority list. I was looking at sound quality and tweeking features. Having said that, I'm sure you will enjoy your new Pioneer. It is a very nice head unit!

i have the pioneer and it has alot options for the enthusist to play with the color screen is awsome and sound quaility is well for the price i would spend 320 and go for the pioneer 880prs nothing better go to sonicelectronix.com and check it out but if you are choosing between the kenwood and the pioneer go for the pioneer i think that once you figure out the cd player you will be very pleased and you can get that at sonicelectronix.com also for 299.
