Hello,guys!

I'm sorry if my topic isn't new there - haven't found anything similar.

I'm new here and hope to get you help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Well, not long ago I sold my Pioneer 5700 and now I'm choosing between 7800(780) and 880.

I wonder if there any difference between the sound of each?

Can I use my wheel remote with them (SR110 if not mistaken)?

As I'm from Europe, aren't there any problems with the installation of the device in the car?

I'll be glad to get any information that will help me to make up my mind!

Thanks! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the 880 will run an active front stage, and has 16 band EQ for both right and left. The 780 wont do active and has 16 band total EQ.

the 880 has auto time alignment and EQ, and the 780 you have to set the EQ and TA yourself.

from what i can tell those are the main differences.. along with the 780 having a color screen.

Thanks for your reply a lot!

1. Could you please explain what "active fron stage" is and how useful it is?

2. I read about EQ.I'm not sure whether separate EQ is a very useful thing...

3. "Time alignment" means that systems sounds taking into account existing acoustics or something else?

What about sound? Is there any substantial difference?

BTW, what is the average price for these devices in the US now? My brother is a student in the US and I want him to buy a HU for me..

If you dont know what going active is, then more than likely the 880 prs wont benefit you any greater than the 780, unless you enjoy a more classy looking cdplayer. The 780s nice, but i dnt care for the color screen, nor does it have some of the features of the 880. 880 is a better deck all the way across the board though.

not if you arent advanced enough to use the extra features.. im not insulting you.. i bought a 780 because i know i wouldnt use the extra features and i like the one nob controls of the 780.

Concerning 7800

Is it possible to write e.g. 20 pics and then to see them one by one while playing CD?

I read both manuals. I gues auto time alignment and EQ are very convinient features. About about the same in 7800?

Also I see 7800 has RPM option (tachometer) and 880 doesn't.

the audo ta and eq sound like cool features.. but im not sure how they actually work in real life..

the 880 has them.. the 780 doesnt.. you just manually adjsut the eq and TA in the 780.

and yeah you can set the displlay to random.

What about 7800's display? Is it really worth? What about daylight?

As far as I understand it is bigger than 880's one.

I had similar questions regarding the two decks and I was able to compare them with a demo disk. I played the decks through a good amp and the same Pro 60's that I own. I set the eq. crossovers and BBE settings so that they were identical. I spent abot 30 minutes comparing the two and I could not tell a difference. I have no interest in the L/R equalizer nor do I require going active. So for me, they are both suberb decks with excellent sound quality. In the end I bought the 780.
