Hi all, a few questions. These are rather elementary questions compared to everything else discussed here but I am new to this car audio world. I've done a fair amount of searching and can't seem to find the answer. I know I'm saving very little money compared to going to an installer, but I would like to gain the skill of doing it myself. Your help is much appreciated.
I'm working with:
- Pioneer 150MP receiver
- 2006 Toyota Matrix
- Metra harness adapter
1. The Pioneer harness has a blue/white stripe wire that says "system remote control" and the metra has a solid blue that says "power antenna." Are these the same wires that should be connected? What are the consequences if I don't connect them?
2. Regarding the grounding wires, can I connect the Pioneer harness straight to the adapter assuming the factory head unit already has the grounding wire grounded?
3. There is an illumination wire in the adapter but the Pioneer harness has none. Am I to presume the Pioneer receiver simply does not have that automatic function?
4. Last - The coloring of the matrix diagrams (link below) I've found don't match the colors of the harness adapter I have. Am I to assume the adapter is correct or should I be questioning this?
