pink noise is EVERY frequency played at the same time at the same "volume" level - aka 0db. so if you throw a real time analyzer in there - technically, you SHOULD see a flat graph, but everyone knows thats relativly impossible, but thats partly the entire theory around a "refrence" (aka: sound quality) stereo system.

thank you james. now in depth further, what would you use pink and brown noise for?

pink is common for setting RTAs which have bins of say, 1/3rd octave each.
