Pics of Rainbow amps iPaul and Kraftwerks

but still... 450 or 350 rms... what are you going to do with that? power an IDQ? at the most?

all im saying is these companies release amps with tiny power output and charge a shitload, it makes no sense and its not marketable except to a tiny crowd (you guys)

They aren't as expensive as you may think, and there is a huge difference in quality. I would pay the extra bucks for an amp such as my 2500xxk over a kicker or rf. The specs are there and they are better than the other amps.

The DM 2000 does 1000 @ 1ohm, which is what I am running it at, that is less than $0.50/watt, not expensive by any measure, there is also going to be a "black mod" released at ces that will allow it to do almost 2000 watts. $450 for 350w has nothing to do with anything, when the load I am using it at is different than the 4ohm spec. That is like saying an Old School HCCA250 isn't worth $250 because it is only 100w. And there is a huge market for highere end amps, If not someone should let McIntosh, DLS, Audison... know quickly that they need to stop production because they are running out of customers. Do you get my drift?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Hell you should check out some of Critical Mass's amps.

Yeah, They are even more than the sub!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif How much for the mod to the Ipaul to double it's power?

is the ipaul actually 1 ohm stable or are you just assuming that?

also you are buying it for the quality: so you are buying it for being underrated, having low THD and a high DF. you're powering it at 1 ohms so you are cutting the DF you bought it for in the first place. not making sense. you could also find plenty of amps out there with under 1% THD (inaudible to the human ear) without having to get the amp and run it at 1 ohm which also means you have to get a dvc 2 ohm sub to run it at the 1 ohms.

so here's what i don't understand. the $450 here is not a justifiable purchase, the SQ is (theoretically) being lowered by you running it at 1 ohm. it does 400 rms @ 4 ohms (ok lets say 500) so its not a very flexible amp

honestly why would you buy this amp unless you're powering some comps? is it just the looks? for $450 you can find a much better amp that doesn't look like an ipod but is a much better deal and will sound just as good and give you more clean watts

i'm not trying to be snippy i honestly still dont understand - it still sounds like a ripoff. it seems like they priced this because it looks like an ipod //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

and IMO mcintosh is not in the realm of affordability for anyone, just ridiculous. who actually pays $2000 for 400 clean watts? whoopity doo lots of amps can do that with inaudible differences for $300. what's the point?

It's personal preference dude. Why do people drop $1000's on DD products whent they can get just as loud with other shit. It all comes down to personal preference quite honestly.

I know I understand that but a lot of people were justifying the purchase with other reasons, which I just can't understand. phooey //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I am running a Critical mass ul12 basically I can run it at 1 or 3 ohms, Any amp worth a flip is going to be able to increase it's power below the industry standard of 4ohms, If you have the option to extract additional power from an amp without degrading the SQ why wouldn't you? The iPaul DM2000.1 is rated at 1000w@1ohm The thd and DF are not an issue at this load. I am a fan of Rainbow, I think the value is there @ $.50/watt I would love to see a list of amps that you think would stand toe to toe with the iPaul and save a substancial amount of money. Have you ever experianced McIntosh? It really sound to me that you are generalizing and I really don't understand your point when you have Zapco and some of the other products in you sig.

truly who would pay $500 or for that matter $2000 for a sub when you can get a Rockford P1 12 for $60. Hell you can get a P3 for a couple hundred, why? Because they are better, they last longer, because they are built better and on top of that they sound better, check out the article on the Cmass UL12, "the perfect woofer" Yes its expensive, but it is nice.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Ahh that is the question, probably as much as the amp LOL, we will see soon, I hope the are reasonable and actually have use.

ok it's a good deal I thought it was a lot more expensive than that originally. i was reading something like upwards of $500 to $750 and i thought they have to be kidding. i'd buy it at this point if i could run my sub @ 1 ohm but i have the more common d4 version
