Pick my Amp: Sundown VS. Hifonics

Okay here is a detailed listing of what I have: 1) One 18" DC Audio Level 4XL D2, 2) a van.

My next purchase is an amp and I have this narrowed down to two particular amps. The Sundown SAZ-1000 and the Hifonics Brutus BXI2010D.

Both are rated to run 1ohm. The Sundown is underrated at 1000watts and the Brutus is supposedly overrated at 2000watts. Clearly the Brutus is a much bigger amp that will push more power but possibly at the cost of efficiency and sound clarity. (Would I even hear a difference with a 18" sub???) I can get either one for nearly the exact same price so cost is not a factor. My system is just going to be a ground pounder and it won't ever see a spl competition. Either amp should be sufficient to help me lose my hearing, sooooo.......

why is sony explod mentioned in the same sentence as sundown?

and for a lvl 4 xl .... 1000 watts is not enough.

at LEAST 1500

they're known to take 2500w rms daily.

They're underrated b/c of warranty reasons.

As for an amp, go for an sae1200d (or sae1200dv2, its the new one, you won't find it used.)

the SAZ line has stronger internal parts. Basically everythings upgraded. But seeing as you only have x1 18'' lvl 4xl..... you don't need an SAZ. Maybe when you wall x4 lvl 4xl's, you'll need the extra tough double soldered connections.

Cliffs:

sundown sae1200, SAZ is too good for you.

or a DC 2000

...yes....dc makes amps & subs.

edit, i don't think i was clear when i said:

lvl 4 xl is rated for 1500 by the manufactuer.

Rated 2000 by conservatives.

Rated 2500 by everyone else.

I'll be using the Sudown SAZ-1000D to power my AA Havoc 15".

you will not hear any audible differance from distortion between the amps. so more power for less money. or you can go with a audiopipe amp for alot less =O
