I've been hearing a lot of good reviews about this line of woofers and how they compare to the IDMAX's a little bit except for the umph. Is all this true in you guys' opinion? Will the PG's hit the low ends and mids with authority? If they get anywhere close to the IDMAX then it's a for sure buy because these things are less than half the price. I need some input from someone with first hand experience with these subs or has heard them.

Ive been singing hails of this sub for a while now after installing one in a buddies ride. Its got balls to it no doubt, you wont be dissapointed. I keep hearing that people have been running these WAY over rated power as well. It sounds awesome no doubt. I cant compare it to the IDMAX because ive never gotten to hear one, but i can compare it to my type-x, which people have compared idmaxs to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. Its sounds as good if not better than my X, it wasnt as loud, but it was also running off half the power that the x was. Put it to you this way, it had my buddies rear deck in his lancer slaping the back window with the gain down on 500w. It hits with athority. FYI i had his single 12 in a 2.4 cube tuned to 28-30ish.

What amp was he pushing this sub with? I'm sorta new in the technical side of tuning but is there some special way to do it or does it just deal with the tuning on the amp? Kinda dumb question but I'm learning.

If u really want a sub that sounds as good as the IDMax12 but dont want to pay $450 for it then look into the IDQ12. Thats the only real sub I would recommened. I've heard the RSD12d once, its a great SQ driver and it does get pretty low. But not like the IDQ. If u were looking for pure SQ then I would recommened the IDQ12 over the IDMax.

I'm sorta fond of 10" subs? Are the IDQ10 good? Do the hit all bass ranges? Do they sound better than the 10" W6v2?

Havn't heard the IDQ10's, but if they are anything like the 12"s, yes they will. I've heard good things about the W6's too, havnt heard one personaly tho. Define ur meaning of Bass ranges, because I personnaly dont think a sub should be playing more then 100-120hz anyways. Thats where ur midwoofer's suppose to come in.

By ranges I mean, the mids and the lows. Like i have a 10W6v2 but it doesnt hit the low ranges the way I want to. I listen to rap all the time BTW, if that gives you an idea. Would you be able to answer my question(above in post #3) about tuning?

It depends, if ur running a ported box. U have to tune it, and ur subwoofer would really only be able to play down to whatever u tuned it to. Because if it plays lower then the tuning on the box it will bottom out, more then a possibility of blowing the subwoofer. But if u put it in a sealed box u can pretty much play down to w/e the sub can handle.

Is ur 10W6 in a sealed box or a vented box?

Then I can easily see why u dont like the low output. The tuning of the box is about 38hz. So look at it this way, ur subwoofer isn't playing any notes below 38hz. Most rap songs have lows that go down to 30hz, and even lower sometimes.

What I suggest for u to do is have someone design a box for u, tune it to about 28hz then build it and hear the difference in the lows. Or pay someone to make the box for u if u dont trust ur wood working skills.

Or u can try putting it in a sealed box.

I have tried placing it in the sealed box built to JL specs. Again it sounds wack so I'm thinking about just getting a new sub... Are there any 10" subs that you would recommend?

like i said, if ur really lookin for lows I'd look into the IDQ. Not too expensive and would sound great in a sealed box.

At the price the RSD's are at, you get alot for your money. I did a review on the RSD a few days ago in the review section. I love my RSD's.
