its all imaginary
Okay, so I made the newb mistake of buying Audiobahn. NEVER AGAIN!!!! Within a week of installing my system, the voice coil on one of my AS69V 6x9 speakers died. Of course, I bought from an unauthorized retailer and so my warrantee is void.

Anyway, I am thinking of replacing them with these:

Phoenix Gold Octane-R69.0 coax

they will be run off of my Profile AP1040 4ch amp @ 80 watts RMS. I have heard that this amp is overrated so more like 70 watts RMS.

I keep the fader almost all up front so these would be more "fill" than a rear stage. I may eventually install some PG comps up front to replace my audiobahn coaxes.

so would these work well? they are in my rear deck.

i want to spend very little.....probably less than 65-70 for the 6x9s.

These by no means are my primary speakers. they are pretty much just used as rear fill and to take advantage of 4-channel mixing on CDs

I think you'll like the Octane's.. I have heard good things about them
so would I be happy if I eventually put PG Octane comps up front, too?

I like sharp, crisp highs as I listen to alot of rock music, but I don't want them to be too harsh.

I have Audiobahn ACS2050N 5.25 coaxes up front now int the doors. I actually like them. they have aluminum tweeters but they are inverted domes so they are crisp and sharp but not too harsh.

I like them, but I don't love them, and I have a feeling that they will fail within a few months.

Okay, the PG RSD comps look good, but comps will come later down the line. i would be overpowering them a little, as they are 60 watts rms but from what i gather, the PG's would do fine with 70-80 watts.

Would the Octane-R 6x9s pair well with RSD comps if I do opt for the RSDs over Octanes?

Also, onlinecarstereo.com says that they are an authorized retailer for PG, but PG only lists best buy canada, parts express, and crutchfield as authorized. so are they authorized by PG or not?

Yes the PGrsd are a higher line. For budget comps you will be hard pressed to find better for the 95.00 you can pick them up for on ebay. They can be had other places for around 120-130.

I bought the Octane-R 6x9s for my rear deck already. Ordered them saturday from parts express (who i am paying shipping to when they are only 30 minutes away from me....wish i realized that earlier)

anyway, I will be buying the comps in about 3 weeks or so, as soon as money is available. I would like PG comps, as I want the same brand of speakers all around, and I think PG does a great job at their price point anyway.

so which of the following would be my best choice. As I said earlier, they will be powered by a Profile AP1040 80 watts RMS. Most people have told me this amp puts out more like 65-70 RMS, but it is very clean. The 5.25" mid will be mounted in the doors and the tweet will be either at the base of the A-pillar or in the dash.
