Phoenix Gold 600.2 AMP blew two fuses in last month WTF

so its a dual 4 ohm sub that is wired in series for 8 ohm?

yes 8ohms but im gonna wire it parallel now to 2ohms, the guy said his worked better that way

good idea man.. let even more heat causing current go thru the amp that is already going into thermal overload? ok... lemme know how it works out. keep us toasted... err posted i meant..

any other ideas?

edit: working again, but did go into thermal once for 10-15 seconds. was playing for 30 minutes. feels like it happens on bass heavy songs.

Those amps will do 2 ohm but they require to be well ventilated as they start to generate more heat.

Maybe your sub is on the verge of blowing and its causing a dead short, do you have a DMM to check each coil to see?

Also you will need to set your gain better and also using a DMM as well.

Sub and enclosure is less than 3 months old.

Will put gain down to half and bass boost to 0 for a couple of days and see if it makes a diff

that pic is showing 8ohms?

some amps ( oddly enough ) don't work well at 8 ohms... might be clipping?

Ventilation is not an issue as right now it's attached to carpet in my hatch (toyota matrix). **** load of clearance space and temp is below 0 right now..

Generally speaking what would you recommend 2ohms or 4ohms for that amp bcuz i think it was running at 2ohm before my first fuse blew. then i got someone to re ground it and he also rewired inside my box to 8ohms to be safe. Also did you use the bass boost function on that at all. I have a fairly high tuned box and the 45hz boost is perfect but idk if even 3db is drawing too much power on some songs, coul that be reason it goes into thermal?
