Phoenix Gold 600.2 AMP blew two fuses in last month WTF

What is your final ohm load on the amp? Sounds like you are running it under its suggested impedance hince the over heating and blowing fuses.

Putting an 80a fuse in there will cause damage to the amp and blow it up. Not worth doing. Recheck your ohm load on the amp first.

according to the manual the internal heatsink gets too hot, it turns off, and the fan continues to cool it off... idk but it says an 80a fuse, so why not try that... is your ground good?

Does this happen when its at full tilt, low volume, any headlights dimming, any other info you can give us would help...

Its bridged at 4 ohms. and its connected to the 4 ohm type r.
if you go to the link i posted. it says recommended fuse size is 80A for bridging.
your alpine sub has 2 coils right? each 4ohms?

that would make it 2 or 8 ohms at the amp depending on how you wired it...

I am guessing 2 ohms given the thermal issues and fuse popping...

Ground is perfect. I changed the position first time fuse blew because I thought it may be a problem.

Im not too sure about the wiring though.. friend did it. but on the manual it does say: Minimum Speaker Load, Bridged 2 ohms.

headlights fade only when playing at really high volumes.

im just gonna buy an 80a and hopsfully it fizes it.

I understand that the manual say's its ok to put one in and thats fine. What I am trying to tell you to avoid here is putting a bigger fuse in while you are having this thermal issue, I never had to put in a 60a fuse in my 600.2 and I ran it bridged 4 ohm for quite a long time.

I think you are running it 2ohm unless you have a dual 2 ohm Type R then yes you would be at 4ohm.

Find out what ohm your type R is and use this tool here Subwoofer Wiring Diagrams it will help you!

or maybe dual 2 ohm wired to 1 ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif then there would be issues...

I bet it is a misprint...

wouldn't be the 1st time lol

it only gives wattage specs of 600x1 at 4 ohms... no 2 ohm wattages

good luck tho...

not many 2 channel stereo amps in the same class as that PG that will do 2 ohms bridged..

lots will but I have not seen any of the PG rated for it.

thats probably a bit higher than it should be. got that right... who knows, he could have a 1v out on his deck for all we know... the specs on the pdf say it will run @ 1 ohm stereo also.

it not clipping, and its wired to 8ohms.

the guy i bought amp/sub from had it wired at 2ohms and it worked fine but he used a 75a fuse.

im just gonna replace the fuse now
