Well i dont know if this is a problem or not. But i noticed that they are putting out a wierd distinctive smell. Only when i smell up close though. Is it just the speakers pushin air or what? Cause im afraid of blowing my brand new set

well what the **** are you doin to them? We need to know your entire setup. What hu/amp/wireing setup do you have. How do you have them mounted. Where is the air that has the bad smell coming from, and what does it smell like. Smell the box they came in, does it smell like that?

head unit is a sony head unit amp is a jl e6450 it almost smells like a wierd burn smell, when i installed my other it DIDNT smell when it played but i also used a diffrent wiring. I just hope the speaker isnt permanetly damaged

well you'd have to either be feeding them a shit ton of power and playing them extremely extremely loud, or using a weak amp and clipping the hell out of the amp. i seriously beat the shit out of my RSD's sometimes and they take it like a champ and keep sounding good. they have never smelled or bottomed out or anything bad.

I havent even played them really yet just installed them like 45 min ago and noticed it but the one on the right is perfectly fine

i'd say as long as you have a lot of clean power just go beat the shit out of them. they will take it. just don't go playing rap with no crossover and you'll be fine. cross them at 63 or 80hz and have at it.

Check your amp for DC Should be less than 40 milliamps(5~20 is ideal).
