I see alot of people blowing there RSD's tweeters. I also see ALOT of people giving there RSD's 100+ watts and there only rated at 60wrms. Are the people that are blowing there tweeters the ones giving them 100+watts? I am gonna be running mine of 75wrms and dont want them blowing.

I was one of them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. 150w or so to my set and POOF! Haha, the tweeter smoked. Was a sight to see though.

Mids took the power like champs, and only the driver side tweet blew. After that I stamped power down to about 120w and the tweets stayed alive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Replacement from PG is about $20 or so for a tweeter.

seemed like it was a certain online company that most of the PG's that had tweet issues came from. Can't remember which one, but I know BigJoker got them from there as did several others and his tweeters smoked pretty quickly...

Yeah, there hasn't been any real proof, but apparently everyone who had problems with the tweeters (including myself) picked the RSD's up from audiosavings.

mine came from audiosavings and one of them never worked form the moment they were installed and the other worked fine and then slowly got quieter till it stopped playing completely, I now have a replacement set and they're doing fine, i was giving them 100 watts each, but I realized they didn't need that much to keep up with my system so I cut the gain back to ~70 watts @1000Hz

you will be fine with 100 watts or so as long as it is clean power. I had a set running with 120 watts per side for a few months with no problems. The tweeters that come in the set are garbage imo anyway. Midbass is awesome though..especially for the price.

audiosavings

i got my set from audio savings.

i ran them passive off of a Kicker ZX550.2 which was rated at 205 watts per channel. ran them like this for like 2-3 months.

i then ran them active using the Zx550.2 on the mids and used the HU power on the tweeters. used them like this for about a month.

i then ran them active off of a Digital Designs S4, which is rated at 200 per mid and 100 per tweeter. ran them like this for about 6 months or so. also most of the time the tweeters were crossed at 2.5k at a 24db slope.

i then sold them in perfect condition to another forum member who was pleased with them.

great set, especially for 90 bucks. no complaints here. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I give mine 130rms and they have done well so far.

Alright ive thoroughly enjoyed my Rsd's for some time now but one complaint i do have is the tweeter hurts my ears. Usually by the time i give them enough power for the mids to do their thing the tweeters sound scratchy and unbearable. I was thinking of 2 options, 1: Getting a new tweeter or 2: actually getting an EQ and Eq'ing my system. What do you think?
