I had them running passive then i used the mids by themselves for mid bass still not the greatest..

I've found that while going ACTIVE with my 8053, I gain quite a bit of midbass by using a 24db/oct lp on my mids instead of 12 or 18db/oct...

Finally, after hours of tuning and EQ'ing the shit out of them...I got them to sound pretty snazzy.

I like it so much I'm about to buy a spare just in case something happens to this one. Either I'll stick with 8053's, or I'll move up to a P9 combo...nothing else really interests me.

Not running a sub right wow. Happens at any frequency I lp them at, all the way from 200hz-5khz. Choosing a different crossover point doesn't change much, but going from even an 18db slope to a 24db slope will give me quite a noticable gain.

I'm not using a hp right now, if that makes any difference.
