Its a statement to show the ADVANCEMENT of the MECA format and an example of how the other formats have essentially grown stagnant.
Lets check a timeline here...

usaci goes by 4 ohm rating... amps come out that are rated for 1 watt and such at 4 ohm.

meca comes out, goes by the highest power rating of the amp

MECA starts driveby and reality

meca starts catching on, and amps come out that are highly underrated, or rated only at a higher load (the 20.1 was a 700 watt 2 ohm amp in 04)

usaci changes so that the rating system is much more like MECA's max power rating system

MECA changes to the fuse rule, eliminating cheater amps.

USACI starts street beat, modeled after driveby and bass race.

MECA has set trends, usaci has followed... the MECA format is much more advanced and will continue on that path. I'm too cheap to buy a CRX, yet your too cheap to buy some fuses... hrm...

I wanna know how big your boxes are for 2 12's and 1 15. I have a Hifonics TX1505 and about 7.5 cubes gross for a box in my hatch. Now I got a quote from Mark and he said he would recommend 1 15. But I'm thinking 2 12's have more cone area AND they'll be getting proper power rather than with the 15 I would be getting scared of over powering it.....

What would you do and do you think I'll be loud. lol

2 12's isn't a terrible option - your hatch is apparantly larger than I thought.

On that note, I used and reccomend R's because they are cheap and work well.. what more do you want?

4 out of the 8 pics of boxes on the site are for subs other than type R's.... so I'd say there have been quite a few boxes for other woofs. I don't have a formula for just the type R... I have a formula that works for just about any woof.

Not that the type R is bad but there are other subs that work just as well for similar prices. Plus, the SQ on the Type R is nothing to rave about IMHO.

Ill run IA 187's all day long before i go with the Type R trend. Speaking in facts, assuming i get the money up, ill be compeating dB Drage and MECA next season with a pair of 187 12's in dBdrag Street B (i think) or MECA AS2, maybe even squeaz into 1.

shouldnt be too hard to beat my states record in thoes classes with is like 143 or something. lol.

i geuss nobody puts any time or effort into such a limited fuse rating.

Just an FYI, AS in MECA is now music only, car off, meter at the headrest. AS is a class designed around street beater cars (people who did their first install or had a shop do it basically), its not designed for the hardcore SPL competitor, though those guys are more than welcome to do AS if it's their first year in MECA.

For AS1 and 2 12's you'd get 50 amps of fusing.
