current bike ::2004 CBR954RR insurance is with state farm. i pay 62 bucks a month fully covered. i have 1 ticket on record and am 30 yrs old... when i was 20 and had my R6 i was paying over 200 a month.... my rates dropped significantly when i passed 25.... iirc....

do you guys think a 600 would be a bad starter bike for me?

A 600cc sportbike and a 600cc "standard" can be two very different bikes.

I'm about to buy a 750cc BMW as my first bike, but it's only 50HP. 600cc on a sportbike can mean something that's basically a street-legal race bike...

Yes. Good starter bike. Anything smaller is not going to teach you how to respect a bike.

meaning a small bike will be like a toy, and cause you to play around with it more, thus leading to increased risk of an accident.

And throw some loud pipes on it if you live in NJ.

pay cash for bike and put liability on it....if you wreck it bad enough to total it you prolly either aint gonna be able to (R.I.P.) or want to ride it anymore...LOL
