I'm wanting to build a sealed fibreglass enclosure behind the woofer, as big as possible, I may even cover up the pocket in the door to increase the available volume.Nice choice of midbasses //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
The 7's BARELY fit into my Passat, and by barely I mean I had to hack up the door and use a 1.25" MDF spacer to get it to clear the window regulator rails...and it clears by oh maybe .000001" tight squeeze, but **** fine sounding driver //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I'm sure the 8 is similar to the 7, but I noticed that mine will naturally roll off somewhere about 4khz, the 8 being a tad larger probably rolls off a tad bit earlier, I'd imagine that 4 can play low enough to blend well, but I've got mine crossed at 2.5khz @ 18db/oct. and my LPGs take over from there, sounds great to my ears //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Sounds like a plan, I'm sure running those in a sealed environment would be amazing.I'm wanting to build a sealed fibreglass enclosure behind the woofer, as big as possible, I may even cover up the pocket in the door to increase the available volume.
also, the 3.5inch midwoofer I was going to use, I dont have anywhere that it'll fit in the door!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
the place I was going to put it (just below the tweeter, at the top of the door) probably wont work, as tehre's too much crap behind it... hmm
I'm seriously considering just skipping the midrange, and having a hole in the frequency response between like 2500Hz and 4000Hz.... lol
well... got any suggestions as to where you might be mounting the 3.5inch mid? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gifSounds like a plan, I'm sure running those in a sealed environment would be amazing.
The 3.5 doesn't have to be up high, is there anywhere else that it might look like it works? Why not put it where you were wanting, just build a fiberglass enclosure like you want for the 8, or just use the fiberglass to extend the door panel out enough so the 3.5 can clear whatever is behind it.
Lol, even though 2500-4000hz doesn't seem like a lot, dont do that it will sound pretty bad, thats a large chunk of midrange that you'll be missing.
I already HAVE bought them!!! it was all I could find in Australia at the time...You listed the tg9 midranges.
I just installed mine...though they're not the shielded ones like you listed.
They are very nice. I"m only feeding them about 22w and they shine on that alone.
I made a pod for the midrange & tweeter, but the vinyl didn't wrap as well as I had hoped and the glue I bought wasn't worth $.10. So, I'm re-doing them this weekend.
Don't buy the shielded midrange, there's no reason to.
