peel and seal=the shiit

I've used Peel and Seal, Dynamat and SecondSkin.

Peel and Seal is OK for just the floors, but DO NOT use it on doors or the roof. When it gets hot, it WILL start to peel and it sage with the heat. It gets kind of mushy and soft. It moves around, therefore doesn't hold the same effect as would a better product.

To me, I used 200 feet of SecondSkin and 100 feet of Dynamat in my Explorer, and the SecondSkin is easily the best material, PERIOD. a year and a half later, with all the super heat we had here in NYC (2nd hottest in history with 25 straight days in the 90's) and the SecondSkin is literally fossilized onto the car. The P&S is all mushy and gooey, but thank God I only used it on some flooring area. It;s OK for that, but don't expect the same return of performance as does the SecondSkin.

The Dynamat is also very good but I give the flag to SecondSkin. Anthony is the owner of the company, and i have spoken to him for about 1/2 hour 3 times. A real nice and educated guy. Call them and try to get a better deal. Very reasonable guy.

Do it right the first time, or you'll have a super mess under all that paneling!

I disagree with ole johnny boy here.
I have p&s as my deadener and live in TX, where it gets plenty hot.

I have no smell of tar in my cabin (the new car smell may still be overpowering it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ). He is right though, if you don't put in the right effort, the stuff will peel off the trunk lid, not anywhere else though.

If you don't want to put all of your pennies towards deadener, this is the way to go. Of course, it's not as good as many deadener products but still gets the job done.

wow, that would be bomb if it makes my trunk waterproof. I have the smallest leak in my trunk, I found it and covered it with all kinds of stuff but it still lets a little water through... if this will help seal it off completly then I'm gonna have to try it. Unless people know of a good product to seal up my tiny hole in my trunk. Also, what temperature should you apply to peel n seal at? and what do you use to heat it up?

a heat gun or torch to heat it up...

if your trunk leaks and you dont see a hole in the surface of your trunk.. it's probably a problem with your seals, so.. i mean the peel and seal will stop the noise.. but probably not the water if it's your seals.. you can get new weather stripping/weather seals from your dealer for a decent price..

i didnt do a " great" job preping it either..wet rag w/ water and a dry one, let it sit a couple minutes and leter rip.

im sure if you just slap it on w/o pressing it in the indentations you might have a problem..thus, the stuff that is 2 or 3 time as expensive might adhere better...

Though if your not doing it right why do it at all?

haha that's nothing...it's either been 30-40 straight days up in the 95-105F in texas...finally getting some rain in for only 2 days...and temp will still be in the 90s

settle down:furious:

being a roofing contractor, i can sell it for 1.25 a sqft + shipping.. on 36" wide rolls.. so in 3 foot incriments.. but 36" wide rolls lets you get more metal per piece so it works more effieciently to hold your ride from falling apart : )
