I find it mildly amusing that the Mac Pro has "Killer Graphics" as stated by Apple, yet the best GPUs available for it are dual 7300 Gts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Whew, I bet you might be able to run Duke Nukem or something! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
I guess you didn't go to the customize section where you can get the NVidia Quadro FX 4500 512 MB card. A little oversight maybe? Or maybe the fact that you just refuse to admit Apple makes a **** fine product.

when will the madness stop? LOL!

some day the two big boys may actually sit down and come together and build a computer (winapple??....appindow???) that will benefit from bothe technologies. Hey, they are on the way, dont macs use Intel processors now?

just a thought

Well if you want to get technical, the Mac Pro is a WORKSTATION. Know what they do? 95% of the time a workstation is rendering. Offering Xeon processors and Nvidia Quadro GPUs places it directly into the workstation category.
Congratulations, you bought an overpriced image renderer.

Btw, the BASE Mac Pro only has 2x2.66ghz Xeons and ONEgb of ram. Amazing how they are charging +$5699 to upgrade to 16gb of Ram when I can order 16gb of Corsair ram which I am sure is WORLDS better than whatever OEM garbage they put in the Mac from Newegg for less than HALF the price. Go figure.
I never said that Apple didn't overcharge for it's memory. It's actually a well known fact that they do. My point is, the Mac Pro is a desktop computer, for all intents and purposes, how many desktop PCs do you know of, other than one you can build yourself, can be upgraded to 16 gigs of RAM and include World Class support just in case anything goes wrong?? And I'd rather have Crucial memory over Corsair. Just personal preference.

and which game are you going to play with your hot graphics card?

sims or sims2??

I know there are more mac games than this......but then again no one games on macs.....at least not at any LAN ive ever been to.

Granted mac does make nice stuff (wouldnt mind a mac notebook myself) however the computer world is owned by Bill Gates. He kicked Steve Jobs' *** a long time ago.

Well that's the thing. Apple doesn't have any technology that hasn't already been done or is being done better by a PC. Apples are made by a single company and thus everything you do must go directly through Apple. You can build, service and use a PC without ever getting anywhere remotely close to any of the large PC manufacturers. Apples will always be behind in technological terms due to how little of the market they control. When companies are working on new products/technology every bit of the research is from a PC standpoint.
Bill Gates owns 51% of Apple btw, just an interesting fact //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Here's another interesting fact. You're wrong again. Microsoft had at one point purchased $150 million in Apple stock. It was basically a friendly gesture so Apple would drop their many lawsuits against Microsoft for outright copying (poorly) Mac OSX. About 2 years ago Microsoft sold the stock. So in a way, you were right. Microsoft did purchase Apple stock at one point, but that was long ago, and it has since been sold.

Well, I've got Medal of Honor, Call Of Duty, COD2, XPlane, the list is actually pretty long. Yes, you're right, the PC does have the Mac in the gaming department, and I even stated that in an earlier post. But, if you are so concerned about games, then buy a playstation or Xbox.

And a nice card at that. And since the Mac Pro has PCI-Express slots in it, you more than likely can put that card in your Mac Pro. And here's the funny thing, it'll probably just work! Everyone is hung up on the old days when you had to buy Apple hardware for an Apple computer and that just isn't so anymore.

You can't be serious. Lol.
Umm, why not? Those machines are designed for gaming, are they not? Virtually every game title you can get on a PC you can get on the PS2 or XBox 360. Chances are, the PC version was ported over from one of those versions.

Too bad there are next to NO games on the mac that can take advantage of a card that powerful //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
Give it time. Considering over 50% of all the Macs sold this year were sold to people switching from PC, I see a lot more games for the Mac on the horizon.

you can play those+ FEAR maxed out on a Top of the line 3 year old system (thats what im doing hehe)...if you want a better gaming experience i would go with the pc, capability of better graphics, if you set it up properly, play the game on a 52" widescreen with logitech game controllers, not to mention a word called EMULATORS.

bah anything a mac can do performance-wise, a pc can do better, if you set your rig up to do what you want it to do. Parts are basically the same, its the software thats different. i do admit OSX > Windows, but you can run OSX on a pc no problem ala PearPC.

as for style points, eh it depends on what you're into. although aopen has some nice mini customizable pcs to rival the mac minis.

PC > All

i wonder how many of those 50% actually know how to setup/use a computer, or just bought a Piece of crap dell.

i wonder... can you get drivers for that card through apple?

Ok, I won't bash you on this, I can see you don't know a lot about games. As far as to what systems games are being ported to, Medal of Honor, Half Life 1 & 2, Counterstrike, Doom, Unreal Tournament ALL started out as PC games. More titles are ported to PCs than from PCs to game consoles for the simple reason that most games designed for PCs simply cannot be ran with the subpar game console hardware. (Yes this includes 360 and PS3, games have to be scaled downed to conform to the hardware specs.)
You're right about the games. I rarely play them anyways, so I would never buy a computer based on availability of games. If I did want to play a game, I would break out my trusty Intellivision 2! Still running 25 years later and fun as hell!! My computer is used mainly for web surfing and music production. And Garageband is an awesome music production program and it came with my Mac!

I just looked and the 750gb SATA drive for the Mac Pro costs $599.00 and I can get a 750gb Seagate SATA for $159.99 + $5.94 shipping.
The SAME drive from Apple costs 3.6 times as much. God Apple sure is doing me a big favor! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
And who's saying you can't put the Seagate in the Mac??
