Another Mac fanboi making emotional decisions.

Also I think you fail to understand the difference between hardware and software. I of course realize that OSX was based on the unix framework.

But FYI, an OS is software that runs on a compatible hardware platform. Now that both hardware platforms are indentical, there is no difference between a PC or a Mac.

I can load OSX on my PC, and you can load Windows XP on your Mac. It's been done already.

Apple = pretty colors and special feelings

PC= straight up

Therefore I posit that Apple be frontin, and PCs keep it real.

Thanks.

i have never owned a mac in my life. not even an apple product.

saying a mac is always VASTLY slower at EVERYTHING

and the EXACT same as windows (when its nothing like windows, in anyway)

and saying that only certain people who you deem yourself better than own macs

and saying you can do EVERYTHING on a pc that you can do on a MAC

is just plain fucking ignorant and stupid. dosen't matter what you're talking about //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

You are basically paying for the OS, which frankly, is no different than windows other than its simpler and prettier. You get 5% of the software that PCs have available, everything is a hassle except graphic design or video editing, and you have zero gaming options outside of Blizzard games.
whats a hassle?

i would love to see you get all your drivers in your pc to work smoothly on a mac and then run it on your pc

It was, except for back in the day when software like photoshop was optimized for the powerpc processor because most of the industry that used the program were on Macs. I believe I said that also but I guess I shouldn't expect you to read my post.

Obviously they are different operating systems based on different kernals. They will have differences, but my point is you can do anything on a PC that you can do on a mac and the hardware they run on is identical.

and saying you can do EVERYTHING on a pc that you can do on a MAC
Other than mac specific software, tell me one thing a mac can do that a PC can't?

and saying that only certain people who you deem yourself better than own macs
I didn't deem myself better than anyone. I made bad decisions based on misinformation or misdirection on a lot of things. Given the context of this forum, car audio comes to mind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Most people aren't technophiles or anything close to it, they just "hear things around".

Although I do like to make fun of coffeehouse hipsters. But who doesn't?

In closing, a Mac is a PC. A really expensive PC. With no superior features. Or games. Or software options. For special people. Who want to be unique and accepted in an elite circle.
Integrated camera, optical audio, firewire standard, high-quality display standard, sudden motion sensor standard, remote control, standard.

.. wireless, standard.

spotlight, sherlock, how about terminal, chess sure beats solitaire, mail.app integrated with iChat (oops, not included w/ your PC.) for videoconferencing, address book integration, iCal (not on your PC)

pfft.

one thing a mac can do that a PC can't?

run without crashing.

Read both types of media, natively.

Execute unix commands, natively.

voice recognition, natively.

shall i continue?

how about no viruses? malware?

you lose.

well he was actually close... a MAC IS a PC... it even has an intel proccessor and can run windows... this is a recent actually a very recent change. Before they used intel processors they had the powerPC processor and couldn't run windows.

The basic reason for MAC "supeirority" is that the control over hardware production is much tighter and the MAC OS is supierior to Windows XP. Part of the reason MAC OS is better is because it is based on Linux and is much more stable than XP (which was a massive imporvment over previous versions and closes much of the gap with Mac OS). Yes a PC can do everything a Mac can but at a cheaper cost and it won't be as stable and likely not as optimized for your hardware.

Now back to hardware. You can't produce MAC without Apple's help (maybe even their permission). Mac's have a much narrower variety of hardware and becuase of this the software is more stable and optimized. The reason for this is fewer variables for the programmer, who can program for a small set of (inset mac version of API's) which will work wonderfully for the narrow selection of hardware. When you program for a PC however your program is going to be run on a vast array of various hardware types, from different companies, which may have shoddy drivers or conflict issues with other hardware. So now you have to program for this huge array and try to make a more failsafe program.....

anywho, I'll stick to my PC's... they are cheaper, I can build them myself and they are far more upgradable. Plus I play games and Mac's just don't cut it yet...

Yeah...expensive options included standard.........................and....?

Anything you mentioned above can be done on a PC. My lil' old homebuilt PC has optical audio standard on the motherboard that I bought, and wouldn't you know it, if I wanted a high quality display its up to me to buy one!

BUT OMG A REMOTE CONTROL FOR YOUR PC?!

Nevermind argument over. Mac > PC

::walks off in awe..."remote control....wow..."::

it could run windows, just not on it's own, at boot. using "virtualPC" emulation software you could run it. and it's based on unix //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also for the record I like linux, but I'll be ****ed if I use that over Windows and deal with the complete lack of interesting software.
most programs on windows have something that works the same on linux. ie photoshop on windows is a close equivalant to The Gimp.. and OpenOffice, etc
