I am having issues which i cant figure out..recently got highspeed so i needed more harddrive space. I bought 1TB and i already have a 250 gig hooked up. Here lies the problem when i boot up the computer it wont even make it to the xp loading screen unless i unplug the TB..those are both external drives..

How can i turn off the TB until the pc boots up without unplugging it all the time?

thanks if you can help

The TB drive is set up as Master boot, so your PC is technically trying to boot off the TB drive. If they're both external, simply don't plug it in until afterwards. Or when you're booting, Open BIOS and set it so that HDD0 or HDD1 (depending on motherboard) is ahead of USB drives.
To see how to do that...

had this issue also, and used bios to change boot order. No issues now, and don't have to unplug the external:D

Ur dumb man, Go into the mobo bios and set the booting order from internal hd to cd rom, to ur external hd..it will boot in that order,
you still can't read ***.

The O.P. is asking about why when his external hd is plugged in will his computer not boot.

the answer is that it is because chase007 is fucking stupid and doesn't know how to read:fyi:

Cuz its booting from the external hd first, all his booting devices are set to auto and it doesn't reconize which one to boot. Just do it manualy press delete on boot, then go to booting devices.
we already established this...and then you came into this thread with your stupidity

Then why did you call me out, I'm booting 2 1T internal hds and 2 500hd externals fine?? And ur calling me a idiot? This a joke?

because of this

You need to set the jumper settings to master and slave, If your running a IDE cable you need to have the slave on the second connection, Or you need to select the hd to boot from and boot from the master.
your reading comprehension is terrible. and when someone tells you about it you get all defensive and say even more stupid shit without reading.

Most external HDD do not even have jumpers.

Maybe try reading the thread before you decide to offer more incorrect wisdom about another topic in which you are clueless.

you're using only external drives? why is that?

if it boots without the 1tb drive attached and wont boot when it is attached obviously the 1tb drive takes over the "master" position when attached, swap the usb cables on the drives....
