Parents just dont understand

Why not just buy a decent used car for $1000 or so, and use the rest on the system? Youll still be able to put together a nice setup, and wont have to mess with the other car.

screw the system, bleh, if i had a chevelle, all i would do is mess with the engine, well you gota have some music, but puttin 2 l7's is just gonna make you look stupid especially in a chevelle

i wouldnt be putting so much of a system into a chevelle. with a pair of L7s the car is going to sound like its going to want to fall apart, they didnt insulate cars very good back then. get a nice deck, for it(mounted under the dash so you dont cut up the original dash) make some kick panels to hold a nice set of 6.5 components. (i have boston pro 6.5s are nice btw, verry loud) get a good amp to push these(at least 150 rms per side, preferablly about 200)

see how you like that, bostons put out pretty good midbass. after that i would suggest a pair of 10s for sound quality. JLaudio W3s are pretty nice, also adire shivas seem to have a hell of a rep on them.

the reason im suggesting all this is i was in the same situation as you a few years ago. 17 years old in my 72 duster, i had 2 L5s with a PG Tantrum 1200.1, 2 sets of infinity components off a pioneer GMX-924. it was loud, sounded great to me and everybody else around me. but it rattled the shit outta the car and made it sound pretty horrible outside unless you were a block away. most of the time i didnt even use it, just low volumes and enjoying the sound of the 360.

Anybody have parents like that about car audio? Ok well first off im 16 and i been searching for a system for 2 and a half years now and finally decided on two kicker l7's and some boston acoustics pro 6.5 comps...h/u undecided. I have my whole system planned out and everything and the money i have been saving for about 6 months now...About 2,200, rember im a kid hard to get money. But yea back to the whole parents thing after all this my parents decide its a waste of money and its stupid. And that its just going to be something else for someone to steal or something for people to bit

i don't care how old you are you can't expect any father to say yea cut up a 72 chevelle it's a classic leave it OG period

do something related to it (design shit) that way the rents know you are serious and aren't just a typical teenager. worked for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Tell your parents that Car Audio is your hobby. This is what you love. It's alot better that you spend your free time messin' with your system than out possibly getting into trouble....

If I had kids that all they wanted was just to throw bass in their car & find out how to be LOUD, I'd be against it too....

...Now if I had a kid who wanted to find out how to get the best sound reproduction in a car's environment, I'd support him/her.

I'm against the whole "let kids do what they wanna do" movement...parents need to enforce. I'm glad mine did.
