Self Defense is one thing... but the Florida measure says any person "has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm."

There is of course limitations to the law, I am sure some form of proof will need to be provided if you do kill the person. No judicial court system will allow you to kill someone because you "thought" he might slap you...

I would think there needs to be physical evidence like they punched a wall or something, to prove their anger.

Not entirely sure though, havent heard of any convictions within the law thus far.

I just read something about this the other day in the paper, so something related to this state amendment must have happened. I'm signing up for my concealed weapon permit/class as soon as I save the money. Innocent people get shot all the time in this state so now we have a law that supports people protecting themselves, I'm all for it. I love that bumper sticker that says: "Fight Crime, Shoot Back".

ok that was being dumb but the article (and probably the actual written law) does not go into great detail on the circumstances behind the law... And let's face it, there are some very stupid people who will abuse this... like my dumb *** example. I'm sorry but many Americans are very dumb and it sucks but you can't deny it.

But even without people abusing it, it's a stupid law anyways.... it sickens me to see what America could potential become if people can get away with murder just because the "felt" like they were in danger.... kinda like people who claim they were insane to get out of crimes they commited or get an easier punishment.

not really shoot... I think it is take neccesary action to assure your safety... in most cases it could be push a guy off of you in a fight and run away and punch him if thats what it takes to stop it... Just a self defense kind of thing and yes if you had a gun held to you then you probably could shoot at the person and get away with it... But it's stupid anyways.

There's so much about the law that is vague, the word 'reasonable' pops up like every third sentence. This won't change much of anything.
