how do you run 2 dvc (4ohm)subs parallel / series to a mono block amplifier. Can you wire one sub different from the other one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif I have a 1200 watt 4 channel legacy and it wont push both coils. I can only one coil per sub. Please explain it to me. I have two alpine type r's and im plannin on purchasing the jbl 1200.1.

If the 1200.1 is stable at 1 ohm then you are good to go. With dual 4 ohm voice coils you can have a 4 ohm or a 1 ohm load. The only way to get a 2 ohm load would be to get 2 more subs and wire them series/parallel.

By the way those subs of yours in series/parallel represent a 4 ohm load to your amp. If that is loud enough for you then so be it. But I've heard on other threads that the 1200.1 is stable at 1 ohm. So ask around and find out, you could be in luck.

Only wiring one coil may not damage the speaker, but it will result in poor performance. You should always wire the coils in either series or parralell.

Dude are you crazy only running one voice coil will result in woofer failure in later periods it cause one side to rub agiants the magnet and will eventually burn up so always run a dvc sub using both coils.

Easy now . You won't destroy the sub by not wiring both coils. You will lower the electrical Q and lose output. But you won't destroy it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I was told actully I think by zane and a few others that it casue resistance and everntually leds to woofer faliure and actully has happened to me so I am not too sure so you be easy now. LOL.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

lol...my bad...good call Savage...oh well, he was nothing to worry about then until he gets the jbl...the legacy won't be putting out anything near 1200watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
