Parallel Hookup Question

I have a Punch 250.2 amp and 2 Kicker svc 4ohm 12's. I want to wire these so I get the most power possible from the amp. I think the easy answer is I should have bought 2 ohm speakers but I already had those and ran across the amp later. The 250.2 amp says it is rated at the following RMS: 60x2 @ 4ohms, 125x2 @2 ohms, and 250x1 @4ohms. Since my two 12's are 4 ohm subs, can I wire the subs in parallel to get to 2 ohms which would allow 250 watts RMS pushed to the subs?

Well the amp would need a 4ohm load to run at 250 rms

so if you wire em in series/parralell as in the voice coils in series and the speakers in parralell

it would have a 4ohm load, which is what the amp would want

so you would want to to do is do

Positive from the amp to the positives on one sides voice coils on both subs then the negative from the amp to the negatives on the other sides voice coils on both subs, then jump the one sides positives on both voice coils on botrh subs to the other side negative

OK, I think I've got you. So to make sure I understand, amp positive goes to positiv eon 1st Single coil sub. Jump Wire from that positive to 2nd single coil sibs positive. Then do the same withthe negative from the amp's other channel. This will drop to a 4 ohm load single channel scenario? ie: the 250X1 @4ohm output described in the amp specs?

ok, I have had some telling me I could and others that I couldn't . The guy at Best Buy said I could, that the stores are wired that way but I have had friends tell me I can't. Looks like mixed opinions on here as well. I guess I will just run it in 2 channel for now to be safe until I can trade the speakers out for some 8ohms and bridge it. I do appreciate the feedback and opinions of all who responded!

since you have Single voice coil woofers, you can run parallel ( + to + and - to -) and get 2 ohms. But your amp is not made for 2ohms at one channel. YOu can go speaker to each channel and that would be 4 ohms x2. Or run in series to make 8 ohms but you do not want that.

I would just get dual voice coil woofers.
