Para Punch Bass Booster?

this bass knob want make your amp make any more power than what the amp can make with out the knob. 6db boost would be quadruple power output for the set frequency compared to other frequencies but that doesnt mean you are getting 4x the power of a say 500w rockford amp for 2000w just cuz you are boosting a frequency i have this knob in my truck right now and i use it to boost at 35hz to help me with my sealed box but it is only turned ever so slightly. and ill prolly take it out when i add another pbr300x1 because my deck eq is much more accurate than the bass knob

What do you mean this won't work?

I had an MB Quart 1500 and I measured the gain maxed out with my DMM from wal-mart.

It was putting out 60 volts on the DMM, that means 3,600 watts!!!!, it was such a beast amp, I wish i had gotten one of the bass boosters so I could get even more power out of my amp.

So say I run the gain on my amp at like 1/4-1/2. Then I turn my bass boost all the way up on the head unit and turn it up to normal listening volume. Then I play a song that is a constant 40hz (if I set the bass boost frequency too that) and then turn up the bass boost until I hear distortion (not going past 6db). Would that work for a somewhat decent way of setting the db for maximum output, without running the gain too high? Or would I be running to much wattage?

heres a quick tip when you set your am dont use any bass boost or eq on the deck set your deck to the desired listening level usually aroud 85% of max(if the deck goes to 35 set it to 28-30) then, set your boost where you want it on the knob and use the tone u boosted as the tone u use the set the amp to. i really recommend setting the amp with the knob wide open if u intend to use the knob alot. this way if u forget and decide to rip it wide open u wont damage your system.

No. You won't hear clipping, and you won't hear the distortion soon enough. The only reason to use the Bass Boost is if you have a specific frequency range that your sub drops off for whatever reason. Using it can easily introduce clipping and ruin your gear. The only way to tell properly where you MAY need a boost, is with an RTA. If you don't have that, and DO want to keep your gear alive, then you should not be using bass boost. If you don't care about ruining your equipment, then feel free to use it however it pleases you. For the most part, if the system is too quiet for you, you need a better system. Things like boosting or turning up the gain, or whatever, are only temporary answers to poorly boost output, and shorten your equipment's lifespan.

Okay that makes sense! But say you are working with a component that doesn't have a built in bass boost like a head unit. Would it be appropraite to use the bass boost then? Or not really because it's only centered around one frequency?

I had this knob on my P6002, it honestly did NOTHING to improve or even adjust sound. It sounded pretty much the same no matter where i had it set, so i sent it back lol there pointless. Just a marketing scheme

Are you sure your bass knob wasn't defective? I have heard of some of them being defective.
It wasnt defective, it just wasnt useful in any way

It barley made any noise difference at all, got a lil quieter at 0, and a bit more distorted at max. Just a waste of money
