Panel Vibrations. (stoppin 'em)

As you can see from my sig, I have a 90 Blazer 2D with 2 15-inch Kicker L7s.

The thing vibrated like CRAZY. So, I checked and found a lot of loose screws (and in some places no screws) in a lot of panels. After adding screws and tightening everything that was loose, the sound was muuuuch better. Way more bass, and way less vibration.

I ran into two problems still though with vibrations: The door panels, and the windows. I'm pretty sure there is nothing I can do to stop the windows from flexin in and out causing a furious vibration? But, Surely there is something I can do for the door panels. No screws, so I couldnt tighten it down.

Is there anything else I can do? Other than dynamat / sound-proofing. Any quick fixes or anything for the door panels?

Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Have you not installed any sound proofing mat yet?

No, I haven't. I'm asking is there any other way to tighten down the door panel or stop vibrations other than sound proofing because I don't want to do that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

No way around it.

Neoprene helps on plastic trim pieces, but avoiding sound deadening here is just a bad decision.

why not? it makes it sound so much better, instead of the sound waves hitting pure mettal and making pingy noises, you can have the waves hit the soft sound deadening matterial and make a more boomy noise. tap some pure metal and tap on some metal with sound deadening, then tell me how different it sounds

lack of money and experience.

There are no other techniques?
It isnt the metal that is making the noise. It is the plastic panels on the door being too loose.
Yeah but when the waves hit the metal, the metal vibrates like hell making everything else vibrate, think about it, the sound deadening is like a layer of tar, and gives the metal a soft layer, making things have less tendancy to vibrate.

I think these guys are trying to kill a fly with a sledge hammer. Yes matting the truck helps (Ive owned/done multiple blazers myself, helps ALOT with those tin-can bastards). But he's asking about rattling plastic interior panels, the fix is so much easier. Go to your local hardware store and get weatherstripping material. Adhesive on one side, a soft mat'l on the other (usually foam). Cut into apropriate sized strips and place between the two offending panels, exactly where they contact (and thus rattle). Viola, no more hard plastic on plastic rattle sounds.

Matting that truck will help alot more with keeping road noise out, and containing the sound in. Ive had one of those blazers sounding like you were in a cave. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Here's a pic of my current blazer, I dunno, just because...
