panasonic + ipod cable

i have the panasonic cq-c8403u headunit and recently, i bought the ipod cable for the HU. i connected it to the back of the HU, and plugged in my ipod. but when i switch over to the ipod source, it says no ipod connected. anyone know whats wrong??
